Fresh murals took shape against brickwork as artists worked live across Digbeth. City of Colours 2019 brought together street art, performance and music within Birmingham’s industrial quarter, with large-scale pieces developing in real time throughout the day.

Photographing the event meant documenting process as much as outcome. As a Birmingham-based event photographer, I focused on artists at work, paint detail, crowd interaction and the transformation of walls from blank surface to finished mural.

The coverage reflects both the creative act and the atmosphere of Digbeth as a live, evolving cultural space.
