The stage sat in near darkness before the first note cut through. Sparse lighting and deliberate spacing shaped the mood, leaving little room for distraction. PJ Harvey held the centre with complete control, every movement measured and intentional.

Photographing the performance required patience rather than speed. The shifts were subtle. Changes in posture, expression and light carried the narrative. Working as a UK live music photographer, I focused on those quiet transitions that defined the set’s tension.

It was a performance built on restraint, where atmosphere carried as much weight as volume.
