Black Widow Tour 2015

Overview
Overview
Photographing In This Moment at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton (now The Halls) on the Black Widow tour in 2015.
It was my first time seeing them live, and I only had a vague idea of what they were about—so I went in not really knowing what to expect. What I did know was that they were letting photographers shoot the entire set, which almost never happens. By the end of the night, I couldn’t believe how lucky that turned out to be.
From the moment they hit the stage, it was clear this wasn’t just a gig—it was a full-on production. Maria Brink completely owned it, dead centre, commanding every second. There were costume changes, dramatic lighting, props, the whole lot—every few songs felt like a new scene. From behind the camera, it kept you on your toes in the best way. Just when you thought you’d got the shot, something bigger and more striking would happen.
There’s something special about photographing a performance like that—where the visuals are just as powerful as the music. And as someone who’s always had a soft spot for female artists, watching Maria in her element was something else entirely. Confident, theatrical, and completely unapologetic.
Being able to shoot the whole set meant I could really settle into it, experiment a bit, and actually enjoy the flow of the show instead of rushing through three songs and being ushered out. Honestly, it ended up being one of the most fun and memorable nights I’ve had since picking up a camera.
