Overview

A narrow beam cut across the stage before the first guitar line broke through. The lighting design was precise and architectural, carving the space into clean planes rather than flooding it. St Vincent moved with intention, shifting between stillness and abrupt, angular gestures that mirrored the sound.

Photographing this date meant working with contrast and direction. As a UK live music photographer, I focused on silhouette, body line and the relationship between shadow and expression. The production allowed little margin for error, with cues landing exactly on beat.

The result was controlled and deliberate, with tension sustained through disciplined staging rather than scale alone.
