Garbage has long been one of my favourite bands to both listen to and photograph, and I can only aspire to the effortless cool of Shirley Manson. As a striking frontwoman, she commands the stage with confidence, making it almost impossible to focus on anyone else while she performs. I have a particular soft spot for female musicians, and having someone with such commanding presence in front of my lens is always a thrill.

The show at The Halls Wolverhampton was everything I had hoped for. The band’s interaction with the crowd was remarkable, creating an intimate atmosphere despite the venue’s 3,000-person capacity. Their energy and connection with the audience made each moment feel personal and immediate. I’m already looking forward to seeing them again later this year on their co-headline tour with another of my favourites, Skunk Anansie.
