Arena spectacle, aerial precision
Overview
Photographing Corteo by Cirque du Soleil at Utilita Arena Birmingham on 25 April 2024 was a thrill from start to finish. The twin-stage setup kept the action moving in every direction, and I had to anticipate every leap, lift, and aerial arc to catch those peak moments.
My focus was on rhythm and form—symmetry in the ensemble, the height of acrobatic lifts, and the way costumes and light played together to shape each frame. The performers’ energy, the sparkle of their outfits, and the dramatic arena lighting all combined to create visuals that were both grand and intimate.
Corteo is more than spectacle—it’s storytelling in motion. Through my lens, I aimed to capture not just the acrobatics, but the emotion, timing, and theatrical magic that make the show feel alive. Every image tells the story of artistry meeting precision, of movement meeting narrative, and the sheer joy of a Cirque du Soleil performance at its peak.
