City-wide celebration, public energy
Overview
Colour moved through the streets long before the main stage programme began. Birmingham Pride 2019 brought together parade, performance and community gathering across the city centre, with the route cutting through familiar landmarks and drawing dense crowds along its length.
Photographing the event meant balancing scale with individual expression. As an event photographer based in Birmingham, I focused on participation — costumes, flags, gestures and spontaneous interaction between performers and spectators.
The coverage reflects both celebration and visibility, documenting a public event defined by presence, pride and shared space.
