Pride, Preparation and Personality
Overview
Crufts 2017 had that familiar mix of anticipation and devotion that defines the show. Beyond the spectacle of the arena, it was the preparation and pride that stood out to me — owners brushing coats in quiet corners, competitors sharing tips, dogs calmly waiting their turn amid the noise.
I focused on the human side of the event as much as the canine. The gentle reassurance before stepping into the ring, the celebratory hugs afterwards, the humour and camaraderie in the aisles. Crufts is as much about community as competition.
Working in an environment of this scale requires instinct and awareness. Moments unfold quickly and often without warning. My aim is always to document the atmosphere honestly — creating imagery that feels warm, immediate and true to the day.
For brands and organisers, these authentic interactions are what give large events depth. They show not just the winners, but the heart behind the show.
