Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds arrived in Birmingham to showcase their latest album, Wild God, alongside career-defining classics.
BP Pulse Live Arena was packed to the rafters, and the photography pit was anything but standard. We were squeezed into a narrow space between the stage and a walkway that ran parallel to it, forced to choose either stage left or right—and stay there for the entire set. I kept my fingers crossed that I’d picked the “better” side, the one Cave would visit most.

Facing the crowd just a meter away was a highlight. I loved capturing their expressions and excitement as Cave moved towards them. Though he repeatedly calls himself a “fucking disaster”—a self-deprecating refrain—nothing could be further from the truth. People weren’t just attending; they were there to worship. The arena was a sea of arms, voices, and pure adoration, and Cave commanded it all with effortless presence.
