I was particularly keen to photograph Chappell during her first UK tour. By that point, she had already made a major impact, and I suspected it might be my only opportunity to capture her in a more intimate setting—on a smaller stage and at close range. That instinct proved correct as she now rarely permits photographers in the pit, with only a select few granted access from a distance, as seen during her performance at Leeds & Reading Festival.

It’s impossible not to feel uplifted watching her perform. She radiates genuine joy on stage, and the packed room of devoted fans reflects that energy right back at her.

Her stage outfit was a standout—bold, sparkling, and perfectly suited to her distinctive, quirky style.
