In 2022, I was commissioned by PRG UK to document Creamfields North, the UK’s largest electronic dance music festival. Creamfields is renowned for its scale, production complexity, and immersive audiovisual experience, and PRG UK provides staging, rigging, lighting, video walls, and crew support across the entire festival site, making it one of the most technically sophisticated events in the UK festival calendar.

My brief encompassed both behind-the-scenes documentation and live festival coverage. Before the festival opened to the public, I focused on capturing the crew in action, highlighting the scale of the operation: technicians assembling truss structures, rigging lights and video screens, and testing complex moving-head fixtures and LED panels. These shots emphasized the precision, coordination, and technical expertise required to bring a festival of this magnitude to life.

Once the festival opened, my work shifted to photographing all stages across the site, documenting both the performances and the production design. The festival’s musical highlights included headline performances by Armin van Buuren and Eric Prydz presents HOLO. Armin’s set showcased vibrant trance lighting, with sweeping laser arrays and pulsating LED visuals that filled the arena. Eric Prydz’s HOLO production was a technical marvel, featuring 3D holographic visuals, precise laser choreography, and immersive stage effects that required a mix of wide-angle shots to capture the scale and tight close-ups to show the detail of the production.

Ultimately, documenting Creamfields 2022 allowed me to showcase the festival as both a musical and technical spectacle, capturing the artistry behind the production as well as the immersive, high-energy experience enjoyed by thousands of fans.
