I often wish I could carry a miniature version of Mika in my pocket to lift my spirits on a bad day. The man is joy personified, and watching him perform makes you feel as though everything in the world is right. I first photographed him at The Halls in Wolverhampton, but technical issues on the night—and the absence of the large birdcage I was eager to see—led me to follow him to London for another chance to capture the full show.

Mika’s performance is expansive and physical, moving fluidly across the full width of the stage while maintaining constant engagement with the audience. Photographing the show required tracking rapid transitions and reacting to sudden directional changes, ensuring every moment of movement and connection was captured.

The final edit reflects that sense of lift and motion, highlighting both the theatrical styling of the production and the direct, joyous connection Mika maintains with his audience.
